buy at least a 12" screen, bigger is better. Go bigger if you can.

There is another setup I'm looking at as well and I think I can get my rig set up for around $3500 with full Garmin gear. The Garmin Striker 9-inch unit is what I'm thinking of using at the console and then going with Echo Map 9-inch unit at the bow with Panoptix. The Striker and the Echo map units won't share much data but if I understood right, they will share way points, that would be fine. Thats really all I need and it is simple. At the console I mainly use the fish finder for more of a bottom monitor for safety than anything else and boat speed, battery voltage, and water temp monitoring as well. The Striker unit appears to be able to do all that and for a lot less money.
