I see the lake is 44’ low. I know some lakes that would be empty at -44. Is there a ramp you guys prefer when it’s that low?

4wd will most likely be required, just a FYI.

Thanks, GS. I don’t have one and I already booked the trip. I might have to roll the dice. Been waiting 10 years for this trip.

Do you fear a 2021 2WD Yukon doesn’t have the guts or the traction?

I haven’t been in years, someone else will chime in on it. It might just be the state park that requires 4wd, county ramp might be OK.

If nobody chimes in, call James in the link below. Do not read if you’re sensitive, lol.

You’ll have to launch at the county ramp in Zapta. The state park ramp at the south end is not useable but if you had 4wd you can launch off the bank there

Was there after Christmas. Launched 2 days in a row at State Park and didn’t need to use 4 wheel drive.

Thanks for the info. Off topic, Do you know if the real world location of border markers are the same as what’s on Navionics?

Have never really paid that much attention but seems like they are pretty close. When running up to the Tigers from State Park, I usually stay real close to the line on my Navionics map that signifies the border. I believe it is border marker 2 that we run right next to with the lake this low.

You will have no problem launching at the county ramp, still on concrete. I have a 2wd and never had a problem, ever. I was there last week and usually fish weekly. The state park is also doable with 2wd, but you will be launching off the bank. Me personally I prefer the county ramp because I usually fish the upper end of the lake. Just use caution on your way to the main lake from the county ramp. There is a large concrete bridge sticking out of the water, you must HUG it on the West(right)side otherwise you might make contact with the old highway bed. Once you clear the bridge you will see the river markers. Just stop at Falcon Lake Tackle, James will fill you in an everything you need to know.

Glad to hear the SP isn’t a launch nightmare. The time we went, anyone with 2nd was screwed. Most miserable fishing trip I ever had, not a lake that anyone wants to fish with 30mph northern blowing in. bang
