Thought the Ray Hubbard Power Plant was offline and out of commission. Saw it blowing pretty good this morning 2/5/2022.

It's never been closed. It's 100% natural gas as of 2018 when they drained the last tank and it's a demand plant, runs more in hot weather than cold.

The water at the discharge is never too warm in the winter, but I've seen it 100+ in the summer...

Is it worth fishing in the winter if it discharging in the area?

Only time I fished it when it was discharging I think I caught a catfish on a crankbait.

I've caught a few fish in the discharge channel, those rocks back there hold fish, and then there's the Marina. Never really anything of size, and I am not very consistent on Hubbard, yet.

I had a 4-5' gar hit a Rat-L-Trap and come out of the water like a tarpon at the discharge.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

In years past it was a fair black bass fishery when generating during cold spells but sometimes great for sandies(my experiences). And like Greeson said above^^^^the gar would get thick up in that discharge. We would cast traps and slabs as far up into the discharge channel over the fence as we could to catch sandies and would often get bit by BIG gar. If you tied to the fence the police would drive down and over their PA system threaten to arrest everyone on the fence
