Someone has to say it and if it was me, it would have been deleted.

Oh I don’t hate him, really don’t have an opinion of him either way. Facts are facts and that’s the truth. My apologies also for thinking that this was a spoof thread, I didn’t realize anyone was seriously going to compare Tom Brady with Josh Jones.

Tom Brady would have purchased a fishing license, a guide license, and been legal to fish in Texas waters. bolt

I would have to go with Josh Jones, he throws to one fish while Tom Brady has six receivers to throw to.

While I’m certainly no expert on the history of big bass fishing, it seems like Hannon and Butch Brown have a more impressive resume.

Greatest? Not yet, and I don't think he will stick it out long enough to be considered the greatest. He must be depositing enough in the bank account to keep the wifey happy though, because leaving her alone to raise kids while he catches fish sure is a gamble at best.

This is exactly what I was thinking….
Takes some serious coin to convince a woman fishing is work 2 months at a stretch.

It's only a good cast if you catch a fish...

Doug Hannon, claimed over 800 DD's. He caught a majority of his on shiners though, so I guess that rules him out.
Bill Murphy, had 39 fish over 13 lbs, topping out a hair over 17 lbs. Supposedly he had a 75lb five fish stringer one day. Several hundred over 10lbs. He caught a lot of his fish on crawfish though.
Tom Young has a few hundred up 19lbs out of California.

There are several guys I know of in Texas with more than 100 DD's. Larry Walker and Fouzman to name a few. Larry is at 184 I believe, most of those were on public lakes to my knowledge. I don't know about Chris.

The list gets real skinny when you count bass over 15lbs. Exclude private water and you are talking some really rarified air.

The big difference here is that all these guys have been at it for a lifetime. Josh has been at it for a year.

Any other names ya'll know of that have more than 100 DD's to their name?

I've got two, working my way towards Butch.

Great post. 100 double digit bass is incredibly difficult to achieve from public waters for a weekend fisherman in a lifetime, let's say a guy that fishes up to 100 days a year. In Texas, a fisherman that lived near or on Lake Fork during it's heyday (or Falcon) could run some numbers up in a short time I guess....but 100 legit DD's is a big number! How many 9 somethings get called 10's, lol?

In California it seems it would be somewhat easier to reach the mark, just because all of the small, not well known lakes have a bunch of 10's in them, much less the well known lakes like Castaic, Casitas, Clear Lake, the Delta, etc.
I only lived in California for five years and caught more 10 pounders there than anywhere else (Texas, Florida, Louisiana and Mexico). I'm only about a quarter of the way to 100 DD's but that is more than most guys I know.

Who is Christie Brinkley? If she is to Beth as JJ is to Brady please don’t post a pic.

Have either one ever caught a teener bonefish? bolt

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

I highly respect both of them but don't put JJ in the same category as Brady.
I would have loved to have been a successful highly paid quarterback.
If my choice was to be a highly paid instructor of electronics and catch a lot of big bass I think I could have done that.
I just don't find that interesting to me although I am envious of the number of large fish he catches.

I'll settle for beating the banks or structure fishing. To me thats more enjoyable.

IF more people wanted to fish that way, do you think it would happen? I do.
I would like to see Josh entering Bass Champs or some other bass fishing circuit. I would be curious to see that and would not be surprised if he did well.
