After looking at used boats for almost the same price as new ones for a couple months, decided I would just buy a new one. It was a very hard choice between a Deep V, and a Mod V. Two completely different styles of boats. I just couldn't force myself to lose the ability to get in super skinny waters, and I don't get on big lakes very frequently, and usually don't even bother when the conditions are rough, so I went with the Mod V. It still has a 13 degree deadrise, so shouldn't be anywhere near as bad as an Xpress or one of the more flat bottomed boats. Pulled the trigger today on an Excel 2072 Stalker, on the viper hull. It's a side console, has a monster live well, and a good size bait well, a Minn Kota Ultrex with I pilot, has the additional step up storage box in the front, led interior lighting, and a large, side, rod storage locker, and a six inch jackplate, also has the onboard wash down. Came with a Yamaha 150 SHO, tandem axle trailer with brakes, and the aluminum wheel upgrade. Has a Helix 5 on it, which I'll either sell, or end up keeping just for mapping. Kinda sad to see the Pontoon go, but for the kind of fishing I want to do, it was just totally impractical, and slow. LOL. I won't know what to do with a boat that has the ability to run 50 mph. Couple spy pics of the new unit.

Not on in the pics, but also has a black Carver bimini top. Going to add a Fishbite aluminum rod rack, with cutting board across the back deck, and some of their rod holders on the side rails.

Very nice Z. I like being able to cover large distances fast. It's probably the one thing that has kept me from getting a toon. Although, with the right amount of money, I could get a fairly fast tritoon. Oh man, here I go again....anyway, love the new ride! I don't know if you've ever had an ultrex before, but if you haven't you're gonna love it. partyon

SInce it's an Ipilot unit, I'm assuming I can just take the foot control off and run it strictly off the remote. Is that correct? My powerdrive on my pontoon has Ipilot, but that model won't work with a foot pedal if you have the Ipilot feature, so it has to be operated with the remote. This one is either/or, and I doubt I'd ever use the foot pedal, so if I can, I'd like to just take it off, and store it in the boat, just in case remote batteries die or something weird happens. Didn't want it cluttering up the deck otherwise.

Sure you will enjoy it!

yes, it works without the foot pedal. and yes, better to store it in the boat in event something happens. You will now have 3 options for operation. Foot pedal, remote, phone. There's an app for that! lol

That was one of my concerns with the other Mod V boats I was looking at, they had a lot of space, but not much in the way of storage. That's also another reason I was considering a Deep V boat. Tons of storage in them.
