I'm looking forward to the white bass run this year. Can anyone provide some guidance on when it starts in the Dallas area?

Full moon in march is typically the beginning of the fun. But before then, you are able to locate fish and have some real good experiences. I will start scouting Denton Creek mid Feb. I have been having a good time lately, and I think it is going to be a good year. Time will tell, keep an eye out for cars parked on the side of the roads near the upper ends of lakes where the creeks are accessible.

Early march. You can find waves sooner but in my experience your going to be grinding it out for some short males. It lasts about six weeks usually. My advice is to find a creek and then go way way back to where boats cannot reach. You want to find swift moving water.

It’s already started in some places in dfw. After the cold and ice it will push it back a week or 2. Mid feb you should be able to limit in places again

I'm looking forward to the white bass run this year. Can anyone provide some guidance on when it starts in the Dallas area? I started fishing white bass when I moved to DFW in 1995. From the bank, the peak run for creeks is usually in March, where you can pretty much tell from the cars park near creeks. For lakes, the shad spawn along the banks peaks in early May and first 2 hrs of daylight is good catching from the wind blown banks. For boat, the run is almost all year round lol. Good luck!

Few things more fun than a trip out for white bass during their spawn up in creeks and rivers.
Right. Someone posted accurately that early on, one will catch smaller males. Male white bass migrate up several days/weeks ahead of the females. The females when chock full of eggs are a sight to see in that gravid state.
I know there are several really good white bass guides around Dallas one could hire if in need of a bit of direction to best find and catch them.

Like others have said, late Feb. or early March. Last year it was starting around the 25th of February, but it was not nonstop action. The next weekend on the 5th of March, it got absolutely insane, couldn't get the fish in the boat, and the lures back out fast enough. This was on the Brazos between PK and Granbury, it tapered off dramatically the following weekend.
