I carry 6 or 7 socks of various sizes. I also tend to drift slower than most guys this time of year. Out of 10 boats I’m the slowest every single time. I hear guys telling me I need to turn on my trolling motor and get my boards to spread out so I can cover more water. They don’t realize i always have my trolling motor pointing me somewhere but I just choose to move slower on that particular day. some days like this past Sunday I might be going .2 at times of no to light wind. I will occasionally speed up to .6 for a short 1-2 minute burst just to get the boards to spread out but then I slow back down. This time of year if your in the right areas your going to be around a bunch of big fish but when the lake gets into the mid 40s the big blues don’t want to chase baits very far and keeping that bait in their face an extra second or 2 seems to help put a few more in the boat on certain days. Everyday is different and there is usually an ideal speed they prefer for that day.

There is a fine line between fishing and floating around like an idiot!!
