I think at this point it's fair to say that ivie is the new king of bass fishing in Texas, Fork will kick out something every now and then but it's a has been.

I think it's going to get better on Fork with the water low. Alot of big fish were caught when it was 7 ft low so we will just see if the King is really dead.

Yes Ivie is kicking out bigs and a lot of them…. But until I see the number of 13+ fish out of ivie that Fork has kicked out it will never amount to anything imo… With the water level being low on Fork at the moment there has the potential to be a “new lake effect” if it stays low for more than 6-8 months and ideally 1-3 years which would bring back fishing on Fork for a while, at least until they spray the grass again

These lakes go thru these phases. Ivie is doing some unreal things right now, and honestly Im happy to see it. My biggest fear is what will the pressure do to it in the next few years. Ive been fortunate enough to fish Fork since '89 regularly and yes, have seen the fall of 13+ lbs. fish. I truly think its the loss of hydrilla in the lake combined with tournaments and pressure. But.....the numbers of 7 to 10 lbs fish in that lake right now is unreal.
Not sure if Fork will ever make it back to the "glory days" but we will just have to see. To me its a fun lake. You can catch numbers and size.

If you look at the big picture, man we are pretty blessed to have what we have as far as fishing goes. Fork, Rayburn, Ivie, and several other small lakes that produce well also. All within a few hours drive from all of us.

Well if we could drain fork down 30’ for ten years and let the cover grow up and refill it, it would be pushing out 13 pounders also.

Gotta disagree about the Hydrilla. Yes it helps, but its not a cure all. Lots of lakes have good hydrilla that don't produce. Ivie is still fertile, and every time the lake goes down and comes back up it, it refreshes. This little draw down Fork will help if it stays down enough to get some shoreline growth. That kind of water fluctuation is about any given month at Ivie. Also Ivie has two deep rivers that actually run into it, as well as a lot more depth than Fork.

Two completely different ecosystems. Yes Fork has all the numbers and records, but its also almost 25 years older than Ivie, so it was producing when Ivie was still a cattle pasture.
