Is SPAM an acronym for Scientifically Processed Animal Matter or Special Processed American Meat

Back in the day, I used to carry 2 cans of SPAM and a box of Twinkies in one of my boat compartments. If I got into an emergency situation, I would use them as a food source. It only happened once and I'm glad they were available.

Yep, I have a bunch... True story.. When I was in the Navy, (1971) Returning from Viet Nam, we visited the Mariana Islands. (only place, I ever wanted to go back to). We visited this one island, where there was a pretty good size village. Well, there were some Christian missionaries, living there. They came aboard the ship to welcome us. We asked what they needed. They said, "everything". So we loaded up their diesel tanks. (They had generators). Hundreds of cases, of Sea Rats. Clothes, especially left over combat boots. sox, and a bazillion T-shirts.. Large tents, And every spare tool we had aboard. We were set, to off load all this stuff, when we returned to Guam anyway. Our ship was being de-comissioned, and turned over to Singapore Navy. The USS Holmes County LST-836) Google if ya like. "Back to my point" When we started off loading hundreds of cases of spam. Those folks went nuts. They started hugging us, and crying. It was amazing. Of course, we couldn't understand a word they said. They were jumping up and down.. You'd think, we gave them cases of Sirloin steaks. The Missionaries, explained they considered Spam such a delicacy. And they hadn't had any, in years.. They relied pretty much on contrubutions. Never felt so good, in my life.. We spent a couple days there. There's more to the story... But that's for another time.

They sell Spam sushi rolls in Hawaii. Spam seems to be quite popular there.

I’ll try it once, haven’t had it since I was a kid, maybe bacon or garlic flavored.
Cheaper than Bacon, that’s for sure.

Current situation Is it true that sea salt is good for you, and that if that Spam had 25% MORE salt (that was sea salt) it would be extra heart healthy? I’m only asking because I’ve heard being that claimed before.
