Guys I am looking for some thoughts on locks for my electronics. I have never had any but want to get some, curious everyone's experience with brands, types, do I need to have one on each side on a unit, do they loosen up running, etc?

Durasafe is the only one I'm aware of. I have them on all 4 of my graphs, 1 on each and factory gimble knob on the other side. Are they theft proof, nope. Will they deter a thief, maybe. As far as coming loose, I haven't had one do it yet.

Just leave a catalytic converter on the deck and don’t worry about the electronics.

I’ve got a set of duralocks on my console graph, honestly not a fan of them. Would be willing to sell them.

I am happy with Durasafe. I especially like having all my electronics and Ultrex have the same key. You can also get trailer and receiver locks with the same key but I have another brand.

They are plastic and can be broken. They stick out further than the gimbal knobs and if you run multiple graphs side by side you have to consider the extra space. When you do want to remove your graphs it's added work.

With the high cost of electronics today, I remove mine after every trip and I don't install them till I get to the lake.

4 minute job tops.

I’m with this guy. Take them off and put them back on when you get to the lake. All of that bouncing running down the freeway isn’t good for your electronics. I do the same thing.

I have the durasafe locks on mine. With that said if anyone wanted to steal the graphs they might present a 10 second obstacle. I had one that the locks quit working on. Literally a quick hit with the needle nose from the boat floor broke the thing in half. Like many things we do they are more of a visual barrier than anything else.

I purchased one of those TH marine alarm locks. I think it's used for the lock-r-bar. I always put my cover on and then I alarm that lock on the cover release. To get to my graphs you'd have to take the cover off, and if you attempt that the alarm goes off. It's very loud.

If they want to steal your chet bad enough, no lock is going to stop them. But they probably won't do it in broad daylight if they have to take extra time and make noise. I take mine off at night in most places and I always use my boat alarm at night.

All 5 of my graphs have Durasafe locks on them. I only have them on one side of the brackets, I hope that keeps the thieves from trying to get them and just move on.
Bottom line is, I still have all my graphs covered under my boat insurance, I have the tournament angler added to my policy which covers them if stolen. Being I have 2 Helix 12's and 3 Helix 9 up front, I have a lot of money invested on the boat.
I do not have one on my Ultrex, I was thinking of getting a Durasafe lock for that but have yet to get it.
