Hey gang,

Just hoping to get some good information if possible. A buddy and I are wanting to do a fishing weekend getaway with the significant others. He lives on Tawakoni, and I fish that lake pretty regularly. We are wanting to try a different lake for a weekend in April. Texoma was my first choice, but the AirBnB's on that lake are costly and none seem to have boat docks attached so I don't have to load and unload each day.
Looking for a good lake for decent sized catfish, that also might have cabins/homes available with lake access or docks at the house. Possum kingdom was a choice as well, but those folks out there are very proud of those homes. Not looking to pay their monthly mortgage with one weekend stay.

Would like to keep it within a 100 miles or so of Dallas.

And if I put this in the wrong thread, please let me know and I will move it to the correct one.

thanks in advance.

Well, you're already on one of if not the best blue cat lakes in Texas at Tawakoni. And in Texoma doesn't meet your needs with accommodations I don't know what to tell you. I fish Lavon, great catfish lake but the ACE doesn't allow docks there. You might look around down at Cedar Creek. I'm sure the fellas here on the forum will have other suggestions for you. Good luck.

Cedar Creek is a big lake, close to Dallas, and good fishing. North end, Gun Barrel City, plenty of stores and places to eat, etc.

I don't know status of BnB's, etc. but lot of houses and docks on the lake, so guessing you can find something.

Some good fish (Blues) here too, know that Jackie Kennedy caught a 58 last week, and several others had nice fish. Last year, April was on fire for the spring bite. Again, look up Jackie Kennedy fishing web site, and some of the pictures he posted last spring. Crappie should be good then also, and there are always white bass on CC. Plenty of guides.

Good luck
Ken

2014 Premier Alante 235 RF tritoon. Momma's boat. But I get to fish on her.

A country boy will survive... but those who cross him?

Cedar Creek personal best:
Blue Cat 31.55 lbs
Hybrid 6.2 lbs
Crappie 2.1 lbs
Tennessee River Blue 45.7

Thanks for all the input. I am really trying to get out of town for a trip. Cedar Creek is too close by, but I do love that lake, thanks for the information Ken.

I will keep doing some research.

Your kind of spoiled on that lake and itโ€™s not going to get any better fishing ( consistent /size/quality catfish ) other than heading north into Oklahoma . Turn south and go fish the coast man or go fish a different species cuz you got it made right where your at !

Richland chambers is a great lake to catfish on. Donโ€™t know about the availability of lodging with dock access though?
