We all know that everything is getting more and more expensive these days. Trying to learn to live with it. But when I called Yakima to get two pairs of metal clips so I could use my bar/towers on my new truck, they told me that it would be about $160. For four small pieces of metal? Gimme a break.

Jeez, anyone wanna buy a bar, towers and clips for a 2016 Tacoma TRD?

Based on their current prices, I have over $1,000 of their products in my attic. None of it is newer than 10 years old.

Roof rack stuff is overpriced and to my knowledge always has been. I bought the Thule Aero bars and Hullavator setup about a year ago and was shocked at how much this stuff costs. One tip I have for you is to check the UK Amazon site. I got the towers for 50% of the normal price here in the States. That's including shipping. If you know specific model numbers you need, buy with confidence.

Its all been overpriced for years.. I started out with Yakima and watched the salt water completely corrode the cross bars and j racks. Went with Rhino Rack last time around and have been happy but rarely use it around the salt these days.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Just 1 more reason every household needs a full size truck. Cars and suv are nice to have but an old beat up pickup is just about the same price as all this gadget junk.

Get all the specs and photos of the clips you need and send to a metal fabricator. I bet they could fabricate whatever you need for a fraction of the cost.

That's probably not the case. I am a metal fabricator and know it costs more to make small quantities of something. Our shop rates are $125/hr plus material with a $1275.00 minimum purchase.
