I do not target brim (sunfish) but I have seen some nice catches posted here during the winter. You should get some replies form some very good anglers who post here.

Brim have moved to deeper water. I use all artificial baits. Small crank baits and jigs work best for me this time of year. Slow retrieve. Work brush piles and drop offs in 10 to 15 feet of water. Patients during this time of year gets the big ones. coolio

During the winter the sunfish action slows down for me. The sunnies I do catch during the winter are usually found in the deeper water of creeks, rivers, and small lakes. Fish are usually holding in or close to grass beds and by brush piles. I also use a very slow retrieve and fish off the buttom. I also take advantage of the warm spells. As I mentioned sunfish fishing is slow for me during the winter however I have caught some of my biggest Redear during the winter time. thumb

I agree with the above information. I use JIGLYF jigs and fish them very slow

Yup! Jiglyf jigs do well in Winter. I like to fish them under a jig or hover over channel edges, shelves and drop offs. Not too much action. Lightest you can get away with. Experiment with colors. If you like soft plastics more, do nothing, subtle plastics are the ticket. Tubes, worms, beaver tails, triple tip grubs. That sort of thing. Drop shot is excellent in this instance. Like Chuck said, a stretch of warmer days will make the shallow and mid depth bottoms come to life. You will have invertebrates hatch and shed the bottom and come to the surface. Sunfish will not be far behind. I tend to like a free falling tube or something under a fixed float for this patterns
