I have a 2 week vacation coming up in spring and I want to fish Tyler/ Fork area. I understand the weather is unpredictable. When would you think the best 2 week stretch is? I can target March/April/May.

Depends on what type of fishing. Bed fishing, Iā€™d target mid-late March. Maybe early April. Post spawn later in April to early May. Late May is summer and they gone from beds for most part.

Weather can be super tricky. You driving or flying?

we are driving. I understand about weather, but we have to take a stab at the most likely best time so that we can get reservations. I'm not a fan of bed fishing, so post spawn.

I would go prespawn. The fish bite better and you have a better chance at a big one. Early to mid March. They are on the move looking for a big meal and a place to make love!

Check the tournament schedules for Fork in March and April, choose a week between the big trails and big-bass events and try to find a place.

I would center my trip around: A. April 16th or B. March 18th or May 15th in that order IMHO. [Linked Image]

Thank you all for your thoughts. Is there a discernible weather pattern that plays into this?

Absolutely! A major cold front can throw a temporary wrench into a spawn but in the end when the time comes the bass are going to do their thing eventually. We can predict the weather for you a little better a week out from these dates! šŸ¤”šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ˜œ Always risk involved when making plans months in advance!

Late April or early May the cold fronts are usually few and far between, the wind is your biggest concern. There are so many good smaller lakes throughout East Texas, you'll always be able to find a body of water you can fish in most any weather conditions.

Fork late April-early May you can still bed fish a little, you have a top water bite, big swim bait bite, a chunk at the bank bite (if that's your deal) and some fish will be starting to group up out deep as well.

My absolute favorite time is late May-early June in NE - East Texas. I've had several 40+ pound bags fun fishing in that time period, plus you can absolutely catch big numbers as well.

Here's something to get you primed for mid to late April. This happened 8 months ago at Fork
