I've been sorting out my new to me 2012 Skeeter ZX200 and one of the snags I've hit so far Is it has the old factory installed 788's at the bow and console; I also have a gimbal mounted 1198c Side imaging unit at the console as well, everything but the 788 at the console works; it comes on but doesn't register any depth. I started researching the area around the transom and keel to see if there was a hull mounted transducer and in fact there are three inside the hull. I can't feel a pulse on any of them. I guess this thing as developed an appetite for transducers? The console mounted 788 is old and outdated but I was wanting to get it functioning as a depth monitor more or less for boating safety until I could afford to replace it with something up to date and much bigger. The 1198 works just fine but it has the transducer mounted to the jackplate and is totally useless when on plane. Could the 1198 be accessing one of those hull mounted transducers and have the ability to switch from the hull mounted to the jackplate mounted transducer?

You can get a y cable and attach both transducers to your 1198 and it will read from the hull transducer while on plane...if that transducer is working...I had my old units set like that...I now use a lakemaster map card ...correct it for current lake depth and highlight any contour under 5 feet....much safer way to track depth while running on plane...in my opinion
