I’m looking at replacing my second cast net I’ve ever owned. I’ve been doing some research and recently ran across cast nets with tape. Anyone have any thoughts or recommendations?

Nets with tape are a must. Diameter size is up to your ability in casting. Width of webbing can be a little tricky, as small web size catches everything . I prefer no less than half inch with one pound of lead weight per foot . The greater the weight , the obvious happens , net sinks faster, however the tape helps open the net and keep it open when bait is deep , like 20 feet down.

Lots of tutorials on you tube on casting a bait net.

Tape is a game changer. I'll use them whenever I'm after bait in anything over about 15 fow, all the way down to 40+.

El Gato Azul recommended a Fitec 11970,7' tape net, when I was replacing my 6' standard net and I must admit I love it...........casting half as much for twice as much bait.I'll never go back to a plain net.If you have an account at Academy I picked mine up for $120 and some change, best price I found on the interwebs.

Good luck

I'm a fan of the Bait Buster.

2 things I like to have with my nets:
1 - At least 1.5lb/ft
2 - The material is a softer material that lays over my hand. Not that stiff/hard monofilament that "poofs up" everywhere.

Well I bought a Fitec but only got a 6’, it’s the biggest net I’ve thrown but will for sure be moving up to a 7 on the next one. It’s amazing how much better you can throw a quality net. If you live close to Belton check out National Athletic Supply, great prices, large selection, and amazing owners.
