I'm looking for the Rod Protector, (Sorry I don't know the generic name. But the product that Rod Sox and others sell) that is the least likely to snag a hook on. I love these things, but hooks, especially treble hooks are always snagging them, Any thoughts on a brand or ideas to minimize the hook snag?

For treble hook baits you are going to need to use a lure wrap with the rod sleeve. Single hook baits seem to be fine for the most part.

Or treble hook guards.

With treble hooks I just gently put 1 of the trebles into the bottom of the rod butt and no worries. Never snags when I do that. Trebles and rod socks are the devil.

The 6th Sense Neoprene rod sleeves don’t get snagged because of the material and they do not extend all the way to the hook keeper. If you use the mesh material ones, lure wraps are nice to use.

Based on a related post, I just bought Rod Gloves ($4.99 at Academy) and like them a lot. They are short enough they don't interfere with lures much. I am using the standard length which is great for 7' rods. I am using lure wraps on treble hook lures and had to redo how i keep my drop shot.

When making my own, I try (usually unsuccessfully) to make them short enough that the hooks are out of play. Reel angles and stacking rods is an art, one kick sideways when removing a rod from the tube can make the hook-snatch nightmare. Try having to pull 4 rods out of the box at the same time in opposite tubes!

I put my hooks on the reel since the sox won't go that far.

I buy ones that are only long enough to cover the guides on the rod. There is no reason to have them go all the way down to the reel.

Baits with treble hooks get cut off before the Sox go on.
