All joking aside.....some of you all are lucky to have the waters you have around you. Crazy that Texas has so many bigs! We gotta officially be the best bass state in the US!!!

Not to be a smarty Pants (you know what I mean).. But this could be any lake in Tx, there are giants in every lake. Some just get more pressure. Those Giants don't get big for a reason, they have tough patterns to fish. With new technology, your going to see more and more Giants.. I just hope people don't fish my super secret favorite lake..... I caught a Giant on Lake austin back in 2007, and we laughed about it. We joked that she was probably yawning when I snagged her lip..

I thought it was interesting that he thinks a fish that weighs 12lbs 4 ounces is "almost 13"...

what lake is your super secret favorite lake? roflmao

But I agree. I do think Texas has to have the biggest population of 8+ size fished throughout. Cali might still have that world record somewhere lurking....but I think pound4pound Texas is the Big Bass State!!!

I think its west Texas, not sure where. Im just impressed at how good TPW have done with our fisheries. Crazy all the new public waters these guys have dropped into and caught quality! Stuff nuts! I just wish eveything wasnt 7+ hours away from me and Id be out there too.....catching dinks beating the bank and flipping brush!!!

I know this will most likely cause a Do-Do storm but there is a reason Texas has such great fisheries. The SAL program has a TON to do with why Texas lakes have so many 8+ pound fish in them. It is not an accident. Without the Florida genes being spread throughout the state there would be far less 8+ pounders being caught.

In the mid-70's a 7 pounder was a Big fish for Texas. Now we enjoy some of the best fishing in the country and think it is some sort of coincidence or good fortune. I know there are many that are not SAL-fans and I will admit I do not agree with everything TPWD does. However the breeding efforts and the dispersal of the Florida genes since the program started in 1986 has benefited our fisheries whether you agree or not.

100%

reminds me of the Ivie thread. One of the fork locals said something about lacking DD's/being dead but also mentioned catching lots over 5 or something to that effect. All i could think of us was my pain in the [censored] grinder of a lake and how I still get my butt out there HOPING i get lucky to snag a single 5+! SAL knows what they are doing....well they know what they are doing more than any of us here know, even though thats hard to admit. I really wish other states would take note! NM is trying at least....kinda
