I suffered from this. Incredibly painful.

Dr diagnosed it in 10 seconds. She told me to stop wearing DC sk8 shoes and get shoes with arches.

Problem went away in 2 days once I stopped wearing those flat shoes.

Had it real bad in my right foot, but have never heard of it turning black and blue. For that I would see a doctor.
As for what was done to fix mine, I had a shot in the ball of my foot and another in my heal. Worst pain I have ever had, but the cortisone did help.
I still have the boot the doc had me sleep in for a month, it really helped get me back to normal. As for the stretching, I still do the exercises in the link that Fishspanker posted. Standing on a tennis ball as I type to stretch the arch in my foot.
Also as others have posted, changing shoes can bring it on quickly. I can't wear Adidas or Nike, either of them will start me limping within a few days.
Good luck.

I’ve had shots and custom inserts made. Hoka Bondi 7s are the only shoe I’ve found that lets me walk.

Like Bigbob said stretch and stretch some more. I walk 50 to 60 miles a week with my work. I wear good running shoes with good arch support. I stretch anytime I'm setting in recliner by placing heel of one foot on toes of other to pull back and stretch arch and calf muscle. This took a year to recover from so I always stretch because it can be extremely painful.

Spend the time and the money to go get fitted for shoes and/or insoles. Also quality socks are a must!

Lt. Dan never had this problem.

Just want to make folks smile, and spit coffee on their keyboard.
