Went this morning before the wind and couldn’t get a bite to save my life. Anyone else out there today that had the same issue? Was fishing from the dam up to Little Mineral. Didn’t go any further north due to the forecasted wind. Just trying to figure these Texoma stripers out.

Took two friends yesterday (12/27) from 10 am to 4pm. Wind was calm and blue bird skies so the plan was to fish shallow at points, coves, cuts, drop-offs by spot lock in 10 fow and cast to shallow or to back of boat to deeper drop off ledges. We slow rolled sassy and fluke (where you can feel the bumps of bottom) and we did well. We caught 28 stripers and one lmb. 6 over stripers up to 24 inches. Fish were quality and healthy. No birds working. This method have been working for me the past 3-4 trips. Good luck!

You were just in wrong areas for this time of year. If resorted to that area this time of year you should’ve focused your area efforts in a little mineral especially in the back and halfway back on all secondary points and structures

Thank y’all for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it. I just always struggle when I don’t have the birds to show me the way. Always wonder how y’all catch them when there is zero bird activity? And I’m also unfamiliar with the shallow bite, I’ve only caught them out in open water, and that includes the few guided trips I’ve been on. When should you expect them to be shallow on structure?

Yesterday I was running across the lake to a spot when I saw a cluster of red dots on my graph. I stopped the boat and there were tons of fish I. The main channel. We started thumping and fishing and kept fish under us and were able to limit out in about 90 min. All 30 were solid fish with a few overs mixed in. You have to check a few spots to find ones that want to feed but when you do fishing is amazing! Here are some picks from today thanks to Ed from Ed’s Guide Service! We are letting the big overs go! They need to spawn!

Well another stellar day on the big pond yesterday, two bites and not a single fish boated I burned about $40 of gas driving all over that lake trying every kind of depth and structure I could find and nothing. One area was absolutely loaded with fish, 50ft of water and graph was lit up from 20-40ft, and I got one dang bite. A guide boat was fishing not far from me and they only boated a couple small fish on live bait. I use only artificials and tried all the usuals - dead stick fluke(white/chartreuse), slabs, sassy shad - and got one sniff on the fluke. Are there just times where they don’t touch artificials?? Those fish got me mad at them…..

I feel your frustration ! This has been one crazy year in No Tex chasing Stripes ! Being at the right place at the right time has become elusive , even for an experienced angler . Someone will chime in spouting how the fish have to eat and " we " killed it ...etc... Sometimes the smallest of lures works when nothing else will. Cork and jig etc.. crappie jigs for Stripes ???

Funny you mentioned a crappie jig, I landed an 11lb striper on PK on a crappie jig. I had been out crappie fishing and was just about back to the ramp and went over a big school of fish. Crappie jig was all I had on, so I just dropped it down there for the heck of it, and bam!😂

Sorry to hear that Paul. Continue to put in more time and it will get better. This lake is HUGE! Yesterday a buddy joined me from noon to 5pm. I was expecting a good catching day due to the foggy, drizzle and overcast skies. First 2 hrs into fishing shallow at the usual structures that I've been catching but we only boated 2 dinks.

But i kept targeting to the next structure and BAM a fatty 26 incher on the ARig in 7 FOW at the West island cut. The total was 13 fish fishing shallow structures but 9 were sandies. So at 4pm the birds finally showed up 100 yds west of 377 bridge, it got mayhem good, huge grenade explosions around the boat with the next 4 fish boated were 24 to 25 inch class. We ended the day with 23 total. The box fish were 17 to 19 inch quality. We left at 5pm when the birds still working cuz it gotten foggy and a long ride back to Highport. It was a very smart decision on my part cuz half way back the visibility gotten dangerous! Lol. Buddy caught all his on sassy. My 2 overs were on ARig and 1 on sassy and rest were on sassy. The sandies were on mepps #4 when i saw a cluster of em on the side image in 10 fow casting to the deep drop off.
