What's yalls experience using braid. Can you see your line on the scope? What lb.test do you use. Do you use a leader? Thanks.

Thanks Gary. I can always see my jig and weight when I get it dialed in but sometimes loose sight of it fishing brushpiles. I'm going to put braid on 1 reel and give it a try. I've never had much confidence using braid.

I fish clear water. They bite it fine. That is what I like about braid, if you lose sight of your jig seeing the braid helps. I think the 10lb braid is.002 diameter. You will lose less jigs with the braid also. Only negative I find with it is if you are casting it on stump flats with the wind blowing, it gets blown over and around stumps way easier than mono.

You don't use a leader?

I haven't tried to fine tune my livescope to see my line but others have answered that question. I switched to 10 lb braid a few weeks ago. I do use a leader but that is mainly because I like to have a swivel and weight above the leader to help identify my lure. Here's some things I noticed:

Pros:
  • Much more sensitive than the mono I had been using
  • Doesn't stretch which means it's much easier to swing a 2 lber into the boat

Cons:
  • Harder to tie knots
  • Easy to get wrapped around everything. When I pitch, the extra line often gets wrapped around the eyes

I am using Yo Zuri 20lb hi viz yelllow and 12 PowerPro with no leader. It works great and is easy to see on Livescope.

Yes, and I had my 1222 dialed so good you could see the knot where the leader and main line were joined together.
