Going out but wow this fog is dense. What will the fog do to the whites? My home lake is Lavon.

The fog is typically good for the bite. Be careful if there's bass boats zipping around the lake in the fog.

Not normally. If the fish are hungry, they will bite. It's more of a danger issue for the human than anything else.

Well found plenty of bait. Catfish were everywhere but I didn’t catch nor see any Sandbass today. Been a few trips ago since I got skunked… reset that clock today.

Went to Whitney today, and nearly everyone got off the water at the same time, even the guides said they couldn't buy a bite. It was the worst day of fishing I've had in years, striper action was all but completely dead. And we flat tore them up last Sunday.

Less light might bring them up shallower. But normally any wind when you see fog, so look for surface action. Wind, clouds, mudlines, all affect light penetration. But dead calm water is tough fishing for sandbass, but you will easily find the schools of shad in the surface. Any time out on the water is something new to learn, fish the conditions.

The massive drop in pressure and crazy high temps today messed up everything. Even the fish are confused.

Slick Rick, just my opinion, but a heavy fog is one of the two weather scenarios under which I will cancel or postpone a booked party. The other scenario is the classic post-frontal conditions which include clear, bright skies, and windless, cold weather following the passage of a cold front. The common thread on both of these is the near total lack of wind.

Well the sandbass have eluded me once again. I have never fished this late in the year. At least I can tell where the aren’t. Hope everyone else is having better luck. I did catch the green fish on some rip rap using a chart sassy shad. [Linked Image]

Fog is usually associated with light winds, which I, in contrast to most, like. Since I structure fish down on the bottom in water from 10 to 28 ft deep, I don't think the fish down there care about the surface waves, and I usually catch fish. However, the fog could affect the way I fish - in deeper water, the fog could reduce visibility to the point where I might need a brighter lure or slow down my presentation.

Retired and full time fisherman...lol

On the lake I've been fishing, fog no wind fish are jumping everywhere....seems to catch everything.....crappie, largemouth, cats, hybrids...when wind picks up alot of largemouth, hybrids and drum...

From what I've experienced in my 2nd year of being a full time fisherman.....Moon and atmospheric PRESSURE is the key to watch out for...and as a fish for anything that has a gil fisherman..

I'm old school....I bring minnows, worms, lures, and chicken liver, etc....every time I go, like tackle gear....I throw it all....cause something gonna bite something....get skunked yes, that's when you know you tried everything and call it a day...
