Making my way out there for the first time Friday Morning. Place looks like it could be a lot fun.
Going to be walking the bank this go around. Didn't know if anyone has been lately that could give me a little report.
Did my due diligence and tried to do a little research. The only thing I could come up with is guys 142 years old saying "It isn't what it once was" and "TPWD ruined that place".
Anyone have any RECENT experience there?

Very Respectfully,
Nick

Will do! Wind is supposed to be pretty stiff, but still going to give her hell.

I went during the summer and there was no grass.. Caught 7 bass with the biggest being about 4 lbs. I did not want to go back after that. It was tough...WE did see two bald eagles and that we awesome.

Yikes. With it being a 1.5 hour drive for me, I don't see me making this trip often. As long as there aren't many people there, I will be happy with a little getaway for a few hours.
My plan is to bang a jig off of every tree I can find until I get tired of losing them. Taking a buddy who is tagging along for crappie. Hopefully between the two of us we can come up with something that makes it worth going back.

Before TDF put grass carp in there you could easil catch 50 a day, with some hogs. Since the grass is gone you’ll be lucky to catch 5😬

We caught most of our fish back by the island.. I did have one break me off I it could have been a state record.. LOL..JK... It felt good but it got me into a tree...You know how that goes... If I would have caught it might be a 3 lb bass but since it broke me off its a state record..That's my story..Fisherman never lie...

Caught a 10.25 there before they killed the grass. Used to catch a bunch of 4, 5, and 6 pounders. Last two times I went was pretty bad. Haven't been back for 10 or so years.

With the grass gone it is real tough and with this wind it will be real choppy.
