Just got a card in the mail from Toyota stating my failure to use their dealerships maintenance program makes me 100% responsible for repairs to 2 year old 4runner with 12,000 miles on it. Both mechanical AND electrical???? I assure you, I've done the required maintenance. This is BS! I'll never buy another Toyota again. Take it and shove it. I don't do threats.

If you have records of having the recommended services performed then they cannot deny warranty. Betting there’s more to this story like a bay relationship with your dealer

Nope. Nothing more. 12k miles, no issues with the 4runner.. Took it for the free 5k oil change and been using a 3rd party since.

Can't make this up! They made the mistake of contacting me tonight! Timing couldn't have been better. I asked if they were denying warranty work even though I've maintained the vehicle. He wouldn't answer me!!!! Told him don't contact me again. [Linked Image]

If you're wondering, its mine and the dealerships info on the other side. I bought no warranty.

That’s junk mail and not from Toyota or your dealer. Read the very bottom line.

Not affiliated with Dealer or Manufacturer

Funny, because it has their name on the other side and I talked to their service rep about it. And how would a third party know if I contacted the dealership or not. Duh!

Again, it’s spam junk mail trying to sell worthless aftermarket warranty. It’s not from Toyota or your dealer.

There is nothing about extended warranty. Its about contacting the dealership for maintenance.

All I'm saying if this is a scam...the dealership needs to sue and maybe fire an employee. Gave the dealership a chance to say this isn't us, they didn't. Gave them a chance to say they'd honor the warranty, they didn't

That is NOT from your dealership. Did you even Google that phone number? Or actually compare it to your dealer's actual phone number? It comes back to many scams, including a "Credit Management" company in St Peters, MO.

After some bad experiences with the free service on my Toyotas I called and emailed the dealer stating I would never use their service again. Also I have never used the dealer that I bought my Tundra from for service. I have not received anything like that. I believe they have to prove that any repair under warranty is related to lack of maintenance to deny coverage. I once received a card with a ridiculous trade in offer. I wrote an email to the sales director at the dealer about it. The offer was $7k lower then book value. He told me that a third party marketing company sends those out.

While this may or may not be a "scam" it is a marketing ploy.

If you read carefully, the document does not state that you have not used the dealership for service or maintenance.
It states that you have not updated your vehicle service protection program, i.e. extended warranty. You state that
you did not buy any warranty. This is marketing to sell you an extended warranty. They state that if you do not update
your protection program (extended warranty), repairs will be 100% out of pocket. That is true for any repairs after the
manufactures warranty expires if you do not have an extended warranty. Almost all extended warranties are from a
third party, even the ones you buy at the dealership. The dealership and the person in the finance office make a
commission from selling extended warranties. Also, most extended warranties aren't really warranties. They are
insurance that will pay for covered repairs. That is why most of them have deductibles like any other insurance.

Dealerships make most of their profit from the service department and dealer add-ons not from car sales, new or used,
so the service rep is not going to tell you to go ahead and keep using your third party mechanic for service. His job
depends on customers using the dealership for their vehicle maintenance.

This is from a thread in 2017 and found to be a scam. Its the same number that is on your notice.
Take it or leave it but I think its a scam.
What is the number you normally call when you had service done to your Toyota? My number was not an 800 number for a Toyota I bought this May.
