Does anybody have both on their boat, how does the UHD SI compare to mega SI. I have livescope up front but run helix mega si at the console. I’d like to switch to all garmin but worried their SI isn’t up to par with humminbird.

Well the gt56 is better than the gt54, so know that up front. A lot of comments that I’ve read, say the 56 is close enough for them to keep Garmin, but it’s still not as sharp as mega. The 54 is not even close to mega and not comparable.

If you bought the BPS special, it came with the older 54.

comparable would be 10 inch Ultra models with GT56 ducer. they are much better than the older model garmins. I just upgraded to the 12 inch and it is steller. maybe not quite as clear as my last Helix 10 mega but light years easier to use.

I wouldn't worry about the livescope being up front. i would worry about which trolling motor talks to my console unit.

Some images from an Garmin Ultra with GT56. I have since dialed in a little better. I do not feel the images are as sharp as Mega SI
but they work for me. I have had all 3 brands and have settled on all Garmin. They all have there pros and cons..but overall I like the Garmin Ultra's.

Here are three clips that I have. The first is the gt34uhd which is the gt54uhd without 2d.
The second one is the Gt36uhd which is the gt56uhd without 2d showing a rocky bottom.
The third one is also the Gt36uhd showing a grassy bottom.
If you’re going to be fishing in 25’ or less I would save your money and go with the gt54uhd.
If you’re going to be fishing deeper than 25’ I’d go with the gt56uhd. I personally don’t think
the image is much better with the Gt36uhd than the Gt34uhd but it’s got so much better
range and I fish deeper than 25’ most days and it was a big improvement over the gt34uhd.
