Mine was probably 1974. We found the gifts in moms 72 Catalina. she swore she was going to give them to orphans since we ruined the surprise.

the dad got us a cox gas plane which he promptly commandeered and proceeded to cut one of his fingers almost off.
the plane did not survive the drunken anger that followed.

then he fell thru the ice of the pond we were trying to fly the plane on.

all in all it was a chitty christmas since dad broke our present, the brother could have cared less I think.

I remember getting a bike that was hideous, it was my first time having to pretend I liked a present. Probably 7 years old

I got my first bike from my grandpa when I was about 3-4 and it was snowing

I remember getting to open one present on Christmas Eve and being an alter boy at midnight mass. That was probably mid 70’s. I want to remember earlier, but it’s only because I’ve seen photos.

Saw a helmet and put it on, wore it while opening presents never realizing it was to the Honda 110 3 wheeler parked under the stairs.

Got a Natari Gaming System when I was 12 but what I really wanted was a role in the hay with the neighbor girl Natali. Santa is dead to me. Bah Humbug!!!

I can remember my grandmother clipping candle holders on the branches of the Christmas tree and lighting the candles. Not sure what age, probably around 4 or 5.

Probably 71 or 72, riding my new red wagon down a hill in Mississippi straight into a briar patch.

Mid 60s when I was around 5 years old, somehow seeing my dad put together bicycles on Christmas Eve. I learned to ride mine right away. My brother, who is four years older than me, still thought he needed training wheels. He cried like a baby when my dad said that was ridiculous for a big ol' boy like him and took them off. My mom got mad at my dad, but what else was new?

Also mid 60’s we lived in South Oak Cliff on Hillvale. All the neighbors on that street decided to put out these wrought iron poles that held candles and hurricane lamp globes. My job was to change/light the candles every evening. It was a pretty cool look up and down the street. And yes we had teh aluminum christmas tree with the revolving light on the floor pointed at the tree.

I’d like to see Norman Rockwell capture that with one of his drawrings. Dad laughing…mom comforting the young thrashfish while plucking briars from his skin…red wagon flipped, but not broken.

That would be one drawing that i would definitely buy.

New sled when I was 5. 1959. The Christmas tree had real aluminum icicles which would spark and melt nicely across the Lionel train tracks. Good times.

I was probably 4 or 5, so it would have been Christmas of 1949 or 50. One of my uncles (mom's brother) gave me a football. It had snowed that morning, but probably less than an inch and then turned warm in the afternoon, so we went outside to play football in the slush. We both got nasty wet and dirty and my mom and my grandmother were as mad as I ever saw them after we tracked all the wet slop into my grandma's house.
