Got to the lake just b4 sunrise...and realized I didn't bring enough clothes. It was 45 degrees & I needed at least 1 more layer....oh well...sucked it up and fished with icicle hands until it warmed up. Caught a nice bass on the 1st cast & had high hopes. Turned out the morning bite was pretty slow. Caught 11 by 1:30...but if you stay long enough at some point they usually get active and such was the case today. Between 2 & 4 I got 17 so ended up with 28 for the day. Water temp was in the mid 60s just about everywhere I fished . About half the fish were caught on a Ned rig (1/4 ounce) & the other half on Culprit worms. Most bass were caught in 10 - 20 feet of water today. The lake was pretty crowded.... but I swear that it seems like the bass know when most people get off the lake & then start really biting?(good for me) Also had a nice visit with a gent from Katy (the guy in the boat behind me in the 5th picture) who was also doing well & also got to visit Alan (Choclabdog) at his ranch in Fayette County. My regular partner "Doc" was feeling under the weather again today who is now competing with Tomrom to see who can have the worst luck. Get to feeling better Doc...There's a 7 pounder out there with your name on it...[Linked Image]

That's the biggest green sunfish I ever saw grin

This weekend was really warm and the shad came shallow on Lake Somerville. I was able to catch LMB, White Bass and Hybrids up against bank in big numbers.

Thursday morning should be the same. Fayette should also be on fire early and shallow.

Short and fat power plant lake bass clap unlike our long skinny river bass. Great pics and post Vogey ! Ever consider guiding?

Side note: Yesenia has the same abu hoodie and it's super thick and warm! You must be cold natured like me. I'm always cold

Nice fish Steve! I've made the mistake of being one layer short as well... if the fish start biting, that is always helpful!

Thanks David...Won't make that mistake again...you can always takem off if you have too much.

Leo...Around 50 years ago I considered tournament fishing...until I entered a tournament...did ok, but it took all of the fun out of it for me. Guiding would be the same thing, although it would be nice meeting new fisher-people. TFF has fixed that problem...meet a lot of awesome folks here...

Thanks Jamie, Carl, Yesenia, John, Chuck & Doc

Back in my younger days I had fished many of cold days on Fayette. I also had my best days fishing on Fayette during the winter months. Great post and some very solid fish as always. Good job Vogey!

Vogey out there doing it! I hear you man, I try to always have too many layers on because, like you said, you can always take them off. I like Ned rigs this time of year around rip rap as well. Great trip and report, Vogey! cheers
