Hahaha... That is awesome.

Kayak fishing does kind of suck. He is right. He is right about it for folks that are just starting out learning how to fish AND how to paddle a kayak. Mix in the wind, current, three pronged hooks, backlashes, stumps, waves, snagged lures, needing to take a leak and it can get very difficult. In colder weather, very dangerous as well. I'm glad to see he appreciates what is involved and his plans to kayak fish as a way to better train as a professional angler.

I tried to embrace the suck today. That's hard core! I've learned to avoid open water during a small craft advisory. I'll be in the river, up the creek, or back in a cove.

Using SUPs for fishing sucks even more, IMHO, haha! Congratulations, my hat's off, to to anyone that can manage the challenges involved in fishing from Craft Like That!
What am I missing, I don't see how fishing from a kayak helps become a professional fisherman for prize money? Maybe the repeated kayak experience, over years on specific tornament lakes, would be helpful in reading the waters and structure? Of course, if developing the skill and overcoming the challenges makes someone happy, go for it!

Well he said he looks for the dumb fish and covers a lot of water in his boat, maybe he will cover much less water and try to figure out the smart fish... more patience?? From a sitting position in a kayak on a windy day, casting as your getting blown under trees or against stumps is a lot like the different strokes you have to use with a tennis racket.

Kayak fishing isn't for everyone, and it's not easy! If you are looking for easy you might want to stick with another method. There is a learning curve, and figuring out your limitations, and learning to deal with the suck! I love fishing from a kayak, and the suck isn't all that bad!
Just one more cast!

Kayak fisherman must learn to embrace the suck! Ahh embracing the suck. Haven't heard anyone use that phrase for a while and it brings back memories. I think I commented on his video saying that fishing in a fresh out of the box kayak with no modifications sucks. What I kept to myself was that yeah, anyone fishing at the professional level in 80K bass boats that are paid for, using 20k of electronics that are paid for, using 10k in rods, reels, and lures that are paid for... is going to think fishing from a floating piece of plastic sucks. As I complete new projects on my kayak it becomes more and more efficient and enjoyable. People probably think I'm overdoing it when I search for a better fastening system to replace t tracks and plastic nuts, or anchor davits that have a line guide. But the fact is that all these little improvements add up to a much more enjoyable experience with less hassle. Kayak fishing is one pursuit where a little perfectionism and OCD is rewarding.
