so I've been following all the protocol's to get a good lawn.
my question is about the renegade weeds that have been popping up.
is the weed control that I have put out going to kill all the spawning weeds from what is popping up or will these current pop up weeds be sterile?
hope that makes sense.

No to both of your questions. If you see the weed it got past the pre-emergent barrier and/or that particular pre-emergent isn't best at controlling those weeds and those weed seeds are viable in the plant. You will need to control it with a post emergent herbicide. Right now I'm seeing Henbit, dandilion, and some type of groundsel looking weed as I drive around. Those are all controlled pretty easily with products containing 2,4-D. If you have Bermuda go with the spectracide orange top. Get the premix gallon with the hand trigger and go around and spot spray them as needed. And try to spray them while they are young and small prior to going to seed.

I haven't seen any yet but it's possible it's out there now. Poa and Rescuegrass is coming. That's a different animal.

I’ve got a small amount of dandelions and a small amount of that weed that has the very long tap root.

Get some pics of the deep tap root weed for proper ID, or close too. But it's probably a broadleaf. And what I posted will do it. It might take 2 applications 14-21 days apart, but it will get it. Don't get the wand either. Get the pull trigger.

So here is how you do it. Bermuda winter broads. Walk the yard on Saturdays or Sundays and give the broads a half to one trigger pull. They don't need the Exorcist soaking. Quick squirt and go. Walking the yard and doing a quick squirt and go will relieve a lot of your winter weed pressure. Same with St. Aug, but use the yellow cap. Pretty simple process.

so I actually got side tracked and never got back to my yard. having said that, a great deal of the weeds that had popped up are now dead. I don't know if the fertilizer knocked them out or the cold. either way i'm set for my February fertilizing and get the ball rolling again. my yard should be the best it's been in decades this year....

Wonder if you had some Dallis grass? It's the only warm season weed I'm still seeing some alive and some just now dying off. I'm only seeing Henbit, rescue, and dandelions right now. Surprisingly haven't seen any Poa yet. If you fertilize in February it will all be wasted. Nitrogen isn't being uptaken right now. All the NPK would be leached through the soil and not be used. Pre emergent in February. Fertilizer would be closer to late March. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 50% green up. If you have bermuda and scalp it early to mid March. Your green up will probably be a little sooner. Depending on temps. .

My neighbors lawn is pretty much 100% dallis grass. Her lawn is still green. The Dallis is fighting hard with the warm December we had.

I just realized I haven't had any winter weeds yet. And then I remember I was like .18'ish and I text Derek about putting down some pre-emergent on September 14th.

Sir I technically misspoke.
For clarification purposes, fertilizing means everything involved with grass.
It’s like saying coke, that could mean a doctor pepper.

Looks like rescuegrass. It has a shallow root system so it can break through/grow though some pre-emergents, special if there is an area where the coverage/barrier is not as strong as other areas. Not a lot of great post emergent options. Pulling them or care spot sprays and or brushing them with glyphosate is about all you can do. Make sure to do something before it starts to produce seed heads.

I have been using 20% vinegar on the weeds. It’s very effective.
