OU should probably be more concerned with the 4 and 5 star recruits they just lost, not to mention the likely active players that will go to the transfer portal. Cough, Caleb Williams, cough...

Naw Riley is from Muleshoe, quiet a difference than LA. But USC paid $500,000 above asking price on his TWO homes in Norman. Gave him and his family access to a private jet for 24/7/365. Bought him a $6 million home in LA and paying him $110 million, I haven’t heard for how many years yet. I’m sure he’s not real worried about taxes and gas prices in California.

I’m sure they’ll talk to Venables but I think they’ll look offense. Talk to former OC’s now HC’s like Jay Norvell, Shane Beamer and Josh Huepel but I think his departure from OU wasn’t a smooth one. Lest we forget the 1st OC of Stoops that got OU rolling was the Pirate Mike Leach. The other cats they’ll be interested in is Lane Kiffin, Mark Stoops and Luke Fickell. Early reports were they were interested in Sonny Dykes and coach Bro. Would Dykes leave Ft. Worth after a week? I don’t think coach Bro would leave the desert for Norman.

You really have to believe in yourself and the administration because Norman isn't exactly a destination that a successful coach would aspire to reside in.

Joe C would choke The Lane Train out in about 20 minutes of him being on campus. Joe won’t take a chance of being embarrassed with a Lane or an Urban type coach. I am personally hoping for Venables or Lanning.

Pete Carroll is about to be available. He should be a serious candidate after he “retires”.

Norman is no different than a Dallas. I do not believe either is a oceanfront job like California or Florida, but it does have a good football program. OU won't have a problem getting a good coach. They didn't know they needed one, so they weren't looking for one. Lincoln could have been up front so they wouldn't be caught off guard and could have started their search.

The loss of Riley is huge and probably the consequence of going to the SEC against his wishes. Living in redneck OK is not the best in many ways, but it would be as good as Muleshoe. If I were make multi millions, a nice coastal city with moderate temps would be nice. Hope he does well out West and he keeps the exciting offensive style alive.
