Going out to Lake Holbrook for the first time. Any advice? Are there boat lanes? Danger areas to avoid?

Just don't run north of the buoys. When I fished it a week ago it was tough.

Some of the coves have buoys across the mouth as well... Idle only.

The lake is pretty open. As mentioned just watch the areas past bouys and points. The majority of the lake is pretty shallow. I would focus on docks with deeper water under them.

Go to Texas Parks and Wildlife site and download the new topo map they have of the lake. It will add the topo version of the lake to Global earth map. You can then zoom in or out on the lake and learn a lot about the contours of the lake. Once you do that, PM me and I'll give you a few tips about the lake.

Jimmy Houston was out there on Tuesday. He must have missed the Fork exit. Fishing was tough.

I was there Tuesday also. Dad caught one fish on the north end in the grass. I wore the skunk hat. Great Lake. Can’t wait to go back. I fish at Tawakoni a lot so I think I need to make better adjustments for the clear water.

I fished it a few times last year mainly because I had been fishing from a jon boat and it works great with a small rig. If you like to throw a jig this is your lake. You can also go to the Navionics website and look at the chart plotter maps and see a lot of detail and where man made fishing structures have been place. It’s my favorite lake to fish in this part of the country. I’m planning on heading there soon.
