Since the little guys have disappeared for the winter, I’ve been trying my luck with crappie. Being new to crappie fishing, well let’s just say it’s been a learning experience. I’ve caught a few on Granger and Sommerville the past month but It’s nothing to write home about. But there is good news to report. Dollar Bill and I booked a guided outing at Aransas Pass to catch some bull reds with Captain Dean Thomas (Slo Ride Guide Service) and we had a blast. We ended up catching a dozen fish with 4 keepers and 3 over 30" which were released. See Photo’s attached.

Side Note: My off season from the Bluegills are the Rainbow Trout during the stocking season!

WTG Zane ! Your wintertime species (reds) make my wintertime species (bass) look like minnows ...Don't give up on the crappie...it's like anything else...takes time and patience to learn their patterns.

I'm determined to bag some crappie. I like to bass fish also but crappie are my favorite pan fish to eat.

My Brother in law lives in New Braunfels and I went with him a couple of times on Dunlap. Was a nice little lake before dam break. Now he fishes with me when he's not working.
