Went yesterday and it looked like an ocean out there. Bait was super hard to get in all that wind and I couldn’t find it bunched up. I took 2 of my nephews that have never been cat fishing so we got 2 new PB today. Once I got to the lake I quickly realized that I don’t have enough drift sick to slow my boat to .5mph. Maybe Santa will bring me a new one. One of my nephews ended up with a PB of 12.5# and the other with a 6.5#. Probably caught about 10 total. We pulled all big baits trying for a toad. Had 2 good fish pull the hook for no reason. I guess they just didn’t have the bait all the way their mouths but they both buried the rods

I bet she was rockin hard yesterday with that wind. Catchin anything in those conditions would be a win. Good job on the new PBs!

Nice work Matt!! Gotta love those PB trips! Big boat=big socks! I have 78” socks and use 1-3 of them to keep us below .5 in up to 25mph wind. I also have a 10ft Easterlin that I use in 25+ mph wind but rarely have to break it out.

I have a 78” and a 66”. It held me to .6-.8mph. I think another 78” would be perfect. Yesterday was the windiest I have ever fished in and if it gets windier than that I don’t think I will go. Those waves were nasty. Never took one over the backend but a lot of spray when they would slam against the back. I stayed dry with rain gear but it is unpleasant when it hits you in the face. Haha. It would be real unpleasant once the water gets cold.
The biggest pain in all that wind is trying to throw a taped net.
Water temp was 58.4. We caught out fish 19-25’. Marked some toads but nothing is bunched up yet from what we saw.
