Ellen’s Amusement Center Is Closing its Doors After 34 Years The land which Ellen’s Amusement Center leases for its entertainment facilities is being sold for development. The sale of the land is scheduled to occur in December, 2021. As a result of the impending transaction, effective after close of business on Sunday, December 12, 2021, Ellen’s will cease all entertainment activities and thereafter remain permanently closed. Named in memory of Ellen D. Smith, Ellen’s opened in 1988. On behalf of Ellen’s family, I want to thank our past and present employees, as well as the generations of parents and children who shared their laughter, memories, and special occasions with us. Thank you! Very Truly Yours, Kevin Towry, General Manager Our family (3 kids)moved to Cedar Hill in 1988 spent a lot of time and $$$ on go carts, video games, and miniature golf . Very sad. Is nothing sacred anymore .

I’ve spent a lot of money there, my kids have great memories as well. It’s a shame to lose the venue.

I worked at the building just next door until we relocated to near DFW Airport in 1991. We flat wore out the go carts many times there it was a fun place.

Me and the kids were regulars there in the 90's. We had a lot of fun times.
Good Luck, Bozz

It would be nice if they would develop the state park. Half of it has been closed since 2015. Sign says 2022 at the earliest

Used to live in the area that backed up to Northwood, nature preserve and state park, always hoped they wouldn't develop any of that.

At first I thought the title referred to a biotech startup in Cedar Hill. That would be exponential progress.

We spent many many days at Ellen's in the late 90's and early 2000's. No telling how many tokens used in the batting cages or how many laps we took in the go-carts.

Had to look up what it was. Pics look like a kool place for kids.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.
