Hey Guys.
I am interested in hear which size of the new Shimano Vanford spinning reel I might need for an upcoming trip (February) to Falcon.

I am also a Dobyns Champion XP guy, so if any of you know which of those rods would be a good match, please chime in as well.

Texas rigging or drop shot at Falcon ??????

Many thanks

Craig

For the Vanford either a 2500 or 3000 will suffice. Same sized reel but the 3000 has a deeper spool. Bass don't make long runs so no need for anything bigger. As for the rod, Dobyns is about the most over rated out there but have a heck of a fanboy following on FB.

2500 will work fine. lets hope youre fishing open waters if youre bringin a spinning rod. Can be done, happens all the time, but you would catch many anglers flipping the hardwoods or bushes with a spinning rig. That being said, I'd imagine a shakeyhead or dropshot over some rockpiles would provide some fun, but I'd recommend braid tipped with 12-15lb abrazx

I went with the 3000. It has the T handle and the carbon fiber drag washers.
If that makes a diff to you.
I have always used a 7ft rod. Went with a 7-4 medium this time. Love the extra length for dropshot and small swim bait.
