Been a while since I've posted so I figured I would let ya'll know what's up! I've been mostly on LOP lately with occasional Fork trips! Fork has been way more consistent of lately when the wind cooperates but LOP is starting to come alive. Both lakes I'm fishing main lake timber off creek channels with hand tied jigs. If your looking for the best jigs made get with Chris at Slab Syndicate. Fork I'm using 1/4oz shad patterns and purple and chart tipping with a minnow at times. On Pines the fish have still been in their summer funk 2 days out of three it seems and we're using 1/8 oz in similar colors with no minnows at all. Seems minnows were scaring more fish off for me than they were catching. You have really had to drop it right on their beak and get a reaction bite. I'm fishing 22-45' of water catching fish 20-30' down on both lakes mostly. Fishing that deep can be tricky on Livescope but adding a kicker weight helps alot. I use one most times anyhow just to help your bait show up and get down there faster. I can't tell you the times each trip I see the kicker weight move and tell folks to set the hook and they never knew a fish was on the line! My fork trip last week the wind was pretty tough and made getting the bait on the fish a challenge but they stuck with it and put a good mess of fish together. Last week I had Ben back out with me and he brought his buddy Ron Atwood! Ron is a wildlife artist in Louisiana and I used to collect his duck pictures as a kid! I probably have a dozen or more. We fished hard for a cooler of fish with fish everywhere we stopped but most wouldn't bite. They ended the day with 2 gallon bags of fillets to take home Was cool to see Ben again and catch up with Ron! I haven't seen him in 20 years I bet! Looking forward to our next trip! Had Arthur and his wife out on a chilly morning with a N wind that had me concerned somewhat! She told me when we left the dock that she didn't like to fish much was mainly there for Arthur and that they were leaving at noon to go antique shopping because he could fish all day! That made me smile! She deserves some antique shopping to brave the lake on that chilly morning! We found the same tough bite but the size was great and they had a good mess to take back home. We got their fish cleaned up and them on their way to Gladewater for some antique's and dinner! Arthur was impressed with the Jenko Kevin Rogers rods. I've tried alot of them and they're a good balance between weight, sensitivity, and backbone IMO. I love their 11' rod and their 7' Trick Stick for casting and shooting docks. Sunday I had Oliver out on LOP for an instructional trip on crappie fishing and electronics. He had recently purchased a new to him boat and was wanting to rig it out for crappie fishing and was overwhelmed wading through all the electronics options and choices. He saw what I used and how I use it and the fish cooperated as well! It was like a light switch flipped and the schools of black crappie that LOP is famous for in the winter magically appeared and he beat his limit down in no time flat and we tossed fish back for a while and we both got home early! Told him to get with David at Shut up and Fish and he can get you fixed up on all your needs. Console graph with GPS and SI, bow graph with GSP, spotlock TM, and a Garmin Livescope. I'm hoping to get my rig over to David before too long for a few upgrades! Thanks ya'll for coming out with me this week! I have nothing left in November but have Dec 1, 7, and the 15th available. I'm mainly fishing LOP this time of year but the timber fishing on Fork and Palestine is really good as well! Folks ask me all the time what lake is best and I'll tell them what lake is fishing best IMO but right now I don't think you can go wrong on any of them. Slew

All 4 of those last fish are over 2 on my scale. I should have got better pics with the black crappie but the guys called it early to go watch football! The black crappie were 2.30 and 2.55 on my scale. Been a while since I’ve had black crappie that big! I love winter!
