The answer to your question is Texas rigged weightless.

Nose hook with a center spring, unless I'm trying to get it through a ton of grass

I like a small bell weight in the middle of my hook,...texposed hook. the fluke will sink slowly, with a small wobble...a few jerks, and hold on.

For retaining walls use just a good size swivel about 8" above the fluke. That provides just enough weight for shallow grass that grows around the walls.

I use a small drop shot weight. Just open up the wire clip, slide it on the hook and it will center itself on the hook in the water so it makes the fluke wobble as it sinks.

Would a belly weighted hook work with a Fluke like they do with the ZMAN baits?
