An acquaintance is selling me her Traeger Tailgater Pellet smoker. I'd like to "beautify" the inside of the cook chamber by spraying some black heat resistant paint. Or should I do this at all? If I was, can someone give me an idea on what paint to use?

Wouldn’t do it on the inside of the cook chamber.

I have sprayed the outside of cast iron grills and cast iron ovens (to minimize rust maintenance).
But, wouldn’t spray the inside or the grill racks.

These are the two I’ve used in the past.
Both work well and benefit from some high heat burn ins (run the grill/smoker as hot as it will go 3-4 times for an hour or so each time) once fully cured.

If I were to choose which had better long term results it would be the 2000degree option; but it’s splitting hairs.

Spray it with pam cooking spray and let it blacken itself naturally.

Yes; clean the inside of the smoker really well with citrusafe cleaner (to remove any creosote) then regular straight cooking spray or rub it down with canola oil and run it as hot as it can go for an hour 3-4 times.

you won't ever get any paint to stick to the inside and it tastes terrible on brisket (so I hear).

Basically treat it like you would if you were seasoning a cast iron skillet. Only reason I recommend the cooking spray over any other oil is because spraying the inside of the grill will be a lot easier than rubbing it into every nook and cranny.

No no no. Do not paint the inside. Like mentioned above, spray with pam or put some vegatable oil in a spray bottle and spray away. Build a fire in it and cook it for about 4 hours at 350 degrees

I use spray Pam on the cooking racks after every cook and after cleaning with a wire brush first.

It does wonders over time.

Pam has this caking ability to keep things non-stick and coated. I would never use it on anything non-stick surface treated. But bare metal it does wonders.

In our environment, I’d take the peanut oil, Pam, cooking oil route. If I’m using mine with a higher heat, I’ll let it cool a bit, then season with a quick spray and season it as it cools down.

Do not paint the inside of the cooking chamber.
