1-1/2 ounce tungsten pegged with a 4/0 flipping hook. Use a Biffle Bug.

Check out ebay for a torpedo weight. That is what I use.

+1 Drop shot with 65# braid works very well. I like it better than punching grass with a heavy Tx. rig.

VMC grip pin hook 4/0

Well it has to do with the heavy grass. I spent 6 years working and fishing in California. The grass out there was a heavy mat on top and was clear under it. We would use a 1.5 to 2 oz weight with a punching plastic and it worked awesome. Peg that big weight and pitch all day. I caught more fish over 8 lbs than I could count. Several over 10. Now in lakes that the grass grows from the bottom up, that changes everything! The rig shown above works good as well as others I have used. In super thick weeds and grass, a Senko rigged weight less Texas rigged pitched into the pockets is killer! I’ve seen Rayburn so thick in coves in the past years ago that a frog was the only option.
I haven’t fished grass except hay grass in a long time. Not a lot of grass on the area of Rayburn I fish.

Hey Bill, call me some time so we can catch up. BPS and Cabelas has them in packages of 3, called trolling weights. They come with a swivel on them, just take the dikes and cut it off, so you can tie direct to the eye of the weight.

Bill Blair down at Amistad has the mold, if you can pour lead.
