How many of you guys use crappie poles over 8ft in your boat? I've used a long pole from the bank but never in the boat. Is the extra reach worth it?

I almost never use a rod shorter than 10'...... Very much so worth it.... It gets your bait away from your boat and troll motor so it helps to not spook the fish.....

I have 1 10 foot and two 12โs
The 10 is my fav , lighter and easier to handle I just pitch to ,drop, float by them
Have two 8 footers I rarely use

I spend the majority of my time vertical jigging. Longer poles keep the boat further away from the structure. I find more times than none crappie are spooky critters.... I like the Crossover jigging rods from ACC. The reel seat is at the very back and makes the pole more comfortable to fish with for long periods of time.

I use 12โ poles on all my trips from B&M and I like them, light and strong.

Kinda of modeled after fly fishing rods, balance is important, to fish comfortably.

I use 11โ Jenko Kevin Rogers 90pxt of the time! I cast wirh their 7โ Tricks and when I need to hold it on their nose and theyโre spooky I use the X15!

I prefer shorter rods in general and my favorite length for the boat is a 9ft Sam Super Sensitive BnM. I have some 7fters as well for dock shooting and casting/pitching. Where I fish, the longer rods don't help that much and can be tough for clients to handle.

I have a 12โ, 10โ, and two 9โ. I have found I like the 9โ the best. I keep the other two in the shop unless I have a buddy come with me.

I have several 12 ft and several 10 ft rods. I personally like the 10 ft rods better

For me, the length has absolutely nothing to do with reach. Itโs about the ability to steer left and right on livescope. 13 foot is my daily rod. I get the 15ft out in feb-early May

I have a 10 1/2โ G-rod, an 11โ and a 12โ ACC and a 13โ Huckabee. The 11โ rod is my gold standard.

I have several 10', 9', 8' and 7' rods. If I'm Livescoping, it's the 10'ers that gets used, and possibly the 9'ers. If I'm pitching and dragging, the 8'ers are perfect. The 7'ers are for dock shooting. I have tried rods up to 12', but being 'officially old', anything over 10' is just too heavy to hold all day.
