I've been after a grass carp since I first started targeting carp, and after several years + countless commons (and two mirrors), I can finally say I got one. It also happened to be my first carp from Colorado (hope out-of-state catches are okay on the forum!) since moving here in June for a trail restoration job from the Cameron Peak wildfire. It was a totally unexpected catch too! We found a tiny park pond in Windsor, CO that actually had common carp listed on a billboard next to the pond, which detailed the fish that could be caught there. There was no mention of grass carp, however, so when my line went off, I was sure it was a common. Felt great to see that big green tail slap the water the first time he surfaced! Caught free-lining a piece of uncooked brown-n-serve rolls from the dollar tree, since they were all out of regular bread
