Mama said they would be days like that. Only 2 on CC today. Slick lake makes for a bad outing

We barely knocked the skunk off this afternoon Tim. 5 blues up to 10 lbs. Ate humble pie for dinner and it tastes like chit!

I fished CC noon to sundown and it was tough. 3 dinks. Fish and bait were scattered. I moved several times, scanned couple hours. Just couldnt find a pile of anything anywhere. 65 degree water, no wind. Had one big takedown and it was on a rod with smaller hook, missed it.

Saying a little south wind tomorrow. Think I will have private church service on the boat in the morning.

Good luck all.

We took another beating! Got enough for the fish fry but fishing was tough! We lost a 20 unclipping a planer board and had one of my big planer boards take off like a scene from Jaws but lost it. Everything short striking and not hooking up. Biggest fish was 12 lbs…[Linked Image]

The wife and I went out on Tawakoni on Friday the 5th and didn't have much luck either. The wind that morning was just too much for my little boat so we snuck off into a deep cove and fished shallow. Ended up with three total, and only a couple of them were eater size.

Been a long time since I went a weekend without catching a fish. Especially this time of year. Well, onward and upward as they say. Work work work and then fish fish fish!

Have a good week y'all. Bluecat Bob, have fun up at Ray Bob...

List of excuses for Saturday:
1. No wind
2. Blue Bird Sky
3. Coming off full moon
4. East wind
5. Waiting on new moon
6. Wrong bait
7. Baits were too big
8. Baits were too small
9. Drifting too fast
10. Drifting too slow
11. Weren't holding our mouth right
12. Fishing too shallow
13. Fishing too deep
14. Need new rods
15. Need new reels
16. Hooks were too big
17. Hooks were to small
18. Started too early
19. Started too late
20. Shoulda been here yesterday!

Couldn't have been our fault...

Lol…good stuff Tim! After chasing these Blues every week for the better part of my life i have come to realize there are 3 reasons why I don’t catch fish. Some days it’s the equipment, some days it’s Mother Nature and the fish, and sometimes it’s the angler. This weekend the equipment worked so can’t blame that. Every bluecatr I know struggled to catch fish and that includes my high level buddies and guides too so can’t blame the anglers. We had good baits and we had good variety and we tried all sizes and cuts. Fish and bait were as scattered as you’ll ever see them but we grinder on the graph for over 3 hrs and we’re able to locate multiple groups of fish. We scanned every depth, every section of the lake, and all varieties of structure. We anchored on a huge pile of fish in timber and not even a nibble. We pulled boards through a huge pile on a ledge and they were locked up tight. That leaves Mother Nature and the Fish. Light East wind and slick lake equals tough fishing 95% of the time. I wouldn’t spend too much time second guessing what we could have done differently cuz we tried just about everything in the book. Even if you were on your home lake it wouldn’t have made much difference as my reports were that the conditions were similar at all our north Texas fisheries. I’m sure there were some guys that did well somewhere but that wasn’t the norm. In all your years of fishing have you ever fished with anyone who is willing to grind like we did? We gave it our all and came up short. At least the weather was nice and the boys had a great time playing together! That’s more important to me than catching fish and we’ll get em next time buddy!
