Plenty of candy left over from last night...can't let it go to waste, so packed it up with the Son-In-Law (Danny) & headed up to FCL to chase the bass around. We hadn't fished together for 5 or 6 years so made him leave the fly rod at home & go after some real fish...and they didn't disappoint. We fished from daybreak until 4 pm & ended up with 60 bass mostly in the 2-3 lb range. Biggest one in the boat was 4.97 lbs, but the "kid" lost 2 at the boat that would have gone at least 4.96 lbs. smile All fish caught on swimbaits except two that were caught on Culprit worms. Had a blast today, & all fish released for Tom & Alan later in the week. Water temp was in the low 80s in most areas & lake level is down a little more from last week. They are making progress on the entrance road at Oak Thicket, but still a work in progress... [Linked Image]

Good report. I'm going in the morning and see if I can refine a new technique a little more.

Looks like you have a fun new partner! Thanks for the report. I did catch 10 to 15 today, and one that went 5.7.

Looks like some fun fishing! What's your best swim bait color? Do you prefer the Tsunami or the Storm? They look to be the same design.

Red Dog...I really don't think the color matters as much to the fish as it does to the fishermen...having said that, I like the Black Back Shad & Olive Shad in the Tsunami & Natural Shad & Pearl in the Storm products. They both work equally good.

Alan...Good catch with the 5.7...What time of day did you get the big one ?

Thanks Chuck & Leo...

Bill...Would like to hear more about your technique refinement. The way we fish the Swimbaits is pretty simple...just bounce it off the bottom like a plastic worm. The only problem is that we lose 10-20 every trip with hang-ups...

Vogey...I did not get to go Tuesday, my wife fell a couple of days ago and is still not quite ready to take care of herself.

I am playing with some refinements to the Ned Rig. Also playing with the Lake Fayette jigs. I have to find a replacement for my "go to" plastic worm, they are out of production now for some reason.

Those rocks do like to eat baits! I lose jigs and Ned Rigs constantly.

Bill...Sad to hear about your wife...hope she gets better soon. I also lose a TON of baits in the rocks...around 15 last trip. If you are looking for a killer replacement worm, I would highly recommend the Culprit 7.5" in Tequila shad color...It's the only one I use & guaranteed to catch fish. I believe the color under the water screams Tilapia which is one of the bases main forage food.

Thanks Tom & Yesenia...

I can vouch for Vogey’s “Tequila Shad” worm for Fayette and bass. It’s all I use over there for a worm since Vogey turned me on to them. You will likely have to order them off of Culprit’s website however…

I caught the big one probably around 9:00 am.

It looks like I will get to take a day off next week and will pack my bags for FCL! I need to knock it off my Texas bucket list.
