I have been watching the Dolphin Docks video out of Port Aransas as the boats come in. They have been bringing good numbers of snapper. The fish I have seen seem to be consistently larger than what I am used to seeing from the party boats. Just wondering if that is the case for some of the other fisheries.

The past years severe restrictions were based mainly on populations on the north gulf coast and Florida. The population in Texas has exploded. Red snapper have taken over many of the traditional vermilion snapper areas and the red snapper are big all up and down the Texas coast.

The red snapper season for federal waters will open back up Oct 15-Nov 5th.
They determined that the available poundage was not caught during the season so its opening back up.

Not so. The season is reopening for the Recreational For Hire sector, not the plain recreational sector. Party boats-yes, private boats-no
