Hey guys, moved to Killeen area mid July. This will be my first fall in the area. I fished both belton and stillhouse multiple times. I have caught several smallmouth. How does the fall weather effect the local smallmouth fishing? I have fished the area around the dam at belton several times and have not caught anything. All the smallmouth I have caught have been in the Rogers park area. I have a boat but currently don’t have a working depth finder, I have purchased two good depth finders but won’t be able to put them on boat till December. Anyways just looking for any info about smallmouth fishing in these two lakes in the fall/winter. Any help is appreciated!

Welcome.

I’ve fished Belton a handful of times but always early summer.

I would imagine fall, winter, and spring would be easier to catch them shallower on moving baits like a spinner bait.

Maybe someone else will chime in that lives and fishes the lake regularly.

Stillhouse is loaded with giant bass and grass if that is your thing. There are smallmouth in there as well.
