Anyone got any good pointers on catching shad at Whitney this time of year? Been a couple of times over the last month and struggle to get enough to fish with. Went on 10/30/2021 and seemed that they were all in 20 foot of water but we couldn't catch them.
Thanks in advance, FD

Taped cast net is your best bet when throwing that deep.

Saturday morning they were in the creeks in about 10-12 feet of water. I have a 7’ bait buster with 3/8 mesh and 1.5 lbs / foot. It’s heavy but sinks quick. They had moved out of the 3-5’ that they were in all summer/early fall. Once I figured out where they went I caught all I needed with a couple casts. I think the 50 MPH wind caused them to move. Last fall I caught shad up to Thanksgiving day in the same spot as I tried first on Saturday morning with no luck.
That’s why it’s called fishing I guess.
