Is this area still a theft magnet? I have a high school tourney on Hubbard this weekend and they booked the Holiday Inn next to Bass Pro.

I would say yes. I had a truck stolen there years ago and know of many more trucks after mine. Hardly ever hear about unless someone reports it or you have buddies in the Garland PD. Sometimes it makes the paper or websites. Dont park a F250 there it will be gone. IMO

Not the best part of Garland for sure. Secure your belongs the best you can and try to park in a well lit area if possible.

Go across the lake to Rockwall! Garland is one of the few cities with lakefront section 8 housing!

That Holiday in is where I always stay when my sons have a tournament on that lake. Never had any issues. I have always been able to park my boat in the Holiday Inn Parking lot, but booked there because the bass pro was close and could use the parking lot if needed. It's well lit and has those camera towers in the parking lot. Not sure if they are actually turned on, but they are there. Just very few places to stay around that lake that have room for boat parking. I've stayed at a few of the places in Rockwall and they get really pissed when you take up parking spaces with a truck and boat. Almost got towed up there at the Hampton Inn. Thankfully we have not had to fish that [censored] hole in a few years. Urban tournaments, hotels, and boat parking are always tough to manage.
