I bought a 95 barber boats forester edition w/ 95 90hp force motor and they said it wouldn’t go fast. Took it out for the first time and after installing gps fish finders it read 5 mph and if I tried to go faster felt like the prop was spun. I took the prop off and took it to get looked at and they said the prop was bent, so I had them resurface it and check the hub and it was good. I put it back on the boat and took it out again and this time it got up to 8-9 mph but was very high rpms and didn’t wanna mess the motor up. I was considering upgrading to a bigger motor maybe a 125 or 150 but not sure if the transom on the pontoon would hold up the weight. Any suggestions would be helpful! Thank you.

How many rpm's is the motor hitting at wot and what size is the current prop? Can't make a recommendation without that info at a minimum.

Yep what Tmd said. I had a 22 ft. with 115 Yamaha 4 stroke and 21-22 was max speed . I tried different props and none helped.
I would agree with you , but then we would both be WRONG !!!!!

When I had the prop resurfaced they said it had an 11 degree pitch. I was getting around 4500 Rpms at 8mph. And I can’t find the wot and idea how I can find.

Toons don't run the same prop as a regular hull. They have to perform in extremely disturbed water, and need a different blade design.
Powertech makes a toon specific prop that works like a champ, that's what you need.
5,200 is max rpm on that motor.

Could that prop hub be worn and not hooking up? Is that the original prop and the correct prop? 20 foot is a lot for a 90 to push. My

I’ve rigged a fleet of toons. Not familiar with that brand but if they are hollow logs you should see the boat listing or water dripping on the trailer. Pretty easy for a welder to patch up. If they are foam filled you’re kinda screwed.
But the proper prop is the correct answer and keep trying to use standard wheels your results won’t change. It’s never going to be fast but 15-17 mph is normal for what you’ve got.
