Not sure about the portability part, but LS makes crappie fishing a blast. Watching them little thumpers staring at your bait and then popping it to make them gobble it up, is greatness.

I feel the same with regard to having a portable set up. I would like to see pole ducer that goes with this set up as mine is simple .

I was unsure whether or not I wanted a portable setup or not when I got mine installed. I don't have 2 boats but instead have a pontoon that I use for recreation, white bass fishing and crappie fishing. I'm happy with my portable setup. I've installed a second brace on the back of my boat so I can switch it front to back as well.

Right now it’s just a simple PVC pole that mounts to my front cleat

Long term will be pvc mounted to a long arm ram mount

not sure what runs my dakota lithium down when I shut unit off and store system, so I started disconnecting the power cables going from the battery to the garmin 1222 and the livescope box and it solved the issue. have fished 6 hours on an 18 amp hour dakota lithium and it still read 13 volts on the screen.
I recommend u put a luggage strap on the carry box, so u can carry your box, and pole easily and not have to disconnect anything . with the carry handles on the box requiring two hands, u cant carry the livescope pole.
also open the lid all the way back, and see if it falls off the hinges. as mine did, so I put a string from the lid to the box.

Also put u some extra fuses for the garmin and the livescope module in a small sealed container and store them in the box along with screen wipes and some nitro glycerin tablets.. because when u see a big slab swim out of the brush and nail your jig, and feel that thump all at the same time, then watch it as it comes up the screen and out of the water, your heart will skip a beat!! ha just amazing!!!!

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

They recommend you put a power switch on the livescope unit, because it doesn't power down when you shut the head unit off.

I got lucky with the box I chose. The lid only opens 90 degrees and the lid carry handle is far enough back that you can still carry it when the unit is mounted.

OH i agree with the nitro pills.... Got to use it for about 4 hours on Sunday and its just stupid what all you can see with it.

good to know, im going to use a two wire plug connector that goes from the battery to the scope, so I can just unplug it when not using it, so I dont have to keep pulling the terminals off the battery and risk shorting something out., THANKS ! I will just leave the wires from the Garmin head unit permanently connected.
I would also like to wire the battery charger permanently to the battery, but when you hook the charger clamps to the battery, with the charger unplugged from the wall outlet, the light on the charger lights up. so I think it backfeeds power into the charger from the battery and it might cause a power drain. from what ive read u cant use just any battery charger, it has to be made for lithium batteries. if not it can ruin the battery
