I am curious what John Cox does. If he fishes both trails again. That might open up another spot too. I admit I was kinda surprised that they are going to the "club" model where no matter how poorly you may do as long as you are a "bigger" brand then you stay on tour regardless of finish. Seems like that could be a deterrent to the guys fishing the Pro Circuit trying to move up.

Didn't know what date the Classic was on.........find it very difficult to believe that industry insiders wouldn't know such things.

Jacob Powroznik makes his opinion very clear on the BPT. He said the Redcrest felt more like a Tuesday evening workingmans tournament compared to the Classic and that the fans make the whole experience. He also made other statements as well but that one stuck out. It isn't all rainbows and roses over there.

I watched MLF a good bit the first few years. I probably watched a grand total of 10 minutes of their BPT coverage last year. To me, their product is already getting stale. I think Mark's description of it being a "club model" is very accurate. The bringing in and rise of young talent just has to be a part of any sport or organization for it to survive. Best I can tell there is literally no path for young talent to enter the BPT. Yes I realize they let a few guys from the "Pro circuit" fish one tournament if they do well, but that is a one time deal and can hardly be considered bringing in new talent. I'm amazed that the lower levels of the MLF organization have as many people fishing them as they do.

With that said I still enjoy their cup events. I've always thought it's far and away the best thing that they do.

Not surprising. Looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, must be a duck. I am honestly curious how many of the pros fishing the BPT are actually happy with their situation.

LOL some of those comments are brutal. Kinda wonder why Boyd goes on BTL anymore, it just going to end up negative comments. Ever notice when Boyd is on now Matt is never there.

Just getting around to listening... man that was rough.. the bottom 10 "cut" question and how its all about 'protecting brands' was cringeworthy

I actually found it to be one of the few times that he actually told some of the truth.

it appears that 74 of the original 80 are still real happy with their decision to form their own tournament organization......and.....they had no problems convincing the leading money winners from FLW to join MLF to replace those that left....and....the MLF and their sponsors apparently are very happy getting 4-6 hours TV exposure each week as the highest rated outdoor show on TV........keep in mind until Boyd Duckett/gary Klein and others came along and showed them how,BASS was lucky to get 10-12 hours TV coverage a year....and the fishermen were fishing for their own entry fees.......MLF pros now share/own the income from TV,sponsors and venues

So since there are roughly 8-9 BPT events and 3-4 Cup events their 800 hours per year of TV has to mean a show is being replayed 75 times or so. Seems the viewership numbers would drop off eachbreplay.
